According to The Joint Commission, “Errors associated with medications are believed to be the most common type of medical error and are a significant cause of preventable adverse events.” Accordingly, medication errors have been named as one of the “never events” (i.e., events that should never happen). During this webinar, we will look at potential causes of medication errors using a cause-and-effect analysis, and we will look at process-based solutions for preventing these types of errors.

Grand Central Terminal Tour & Section Dinner Meeting

This Section event includes a 2-hour tour of Grand Central Terminal in New York City, followed by a Section Dinner Meeting in the world-famous Oyster Bar Restaurant on the lower level of Grand Central Terminal.

A Metro-North Railroad Public Relations Guide will lead the tour group through the public and seldom seen non-public areas of Grand Central Terminal while providing commentary on the historical and current uses of the facility.

Following the tour, a networking session with cocktails will be held in the Saloon Dining Room of the Oyster Bar Restaurant, followed by a sit-down dinner to enjoy four courses of the fine food offered by the Oyster Bar Restaurant. Highlights of Section activities and events will be described during the dinner. Vegetarian and non-seafood food is available upon request.

Anheuser-Busch (A-B) Newark Plant Tour Event Report

The NY/NJ Metro Section was happy to welcome over 50 ASQ colleagues to a Plant Tour and Dinner hosted by Anheuser-Busch at their Newark, NJ Brewery. The Dinner portion of the evening included tasty Beer and Food pairings.

Members from the NY/NJ Metro, Tappan Zee, Northern NJ, and Princeton Sections all attended this SOLD OUT event.

May Section Meeting: Tappan Zee Bridge Replacement Project Overview and Challenges

After more than a decade of delay, a New NY Bridge to replace the Tappan Zee is becoming a reality. The first span of the new twin-span bridge is scheduled to open in 2016, and the new bridge should be complete in 2018. The new bridge will be designed and constructed to last 100 years without major structural maintenance.
