Andrew Rein is a mission-driven senior executive with 20+ years of experience acquired in executive positions in the nation’s leading health care and public health organizations, and a proven ability to lead health system transformation and reform, population health, and organizational innovation. Andrew maximizes value by uniquely weaving strong performance and financial management, strategy development and implementation, policy priorities, and deep analytics.
As an executive strategist and leader Andrew has been Associate Director of the Centers for Disease Control, Executive Deputy Commissioner/COO of the New York City Health Department, and SVP of Strategy of both EmblemHealth and NYU Lutheran.
He led CDC’s health reform strategy and CDC to designate “Public Health-Health Care Collaboration” a top priority. To implement transformation, he oversaw development of NYU Lutheran’s $115 million DSRIP Medicaid Transformation program and efforts to shift to value- and risk-based reimbursement, including bundled payments. He spearheaded development and drafting of the US’s first-ever National Prevention Strategy, and coordinated development of NYC’s Take Care New York health policy.
Andrew’s management focuses on maximizes value and performance. He led EmblemHealth’s priority and goal setting and progress review; managed and realigned the NYC Health Dept.’s $1.6 billion annual budget; and designed the innovative public health performance management Quarterly Program Review. Fostering care excellence, he led NYU Lutheran’s team to improve community case management and oversaw the NYC Health Dept.’s Clinical Quality program covering 1+ million annual visits.
