Patient Safety Institute. Simulation & Team Based Learning
	The guests will see a simulation scenario live and have the opportunity to observe a debriefing session post scenario. The guests will learn about teaching with simulation and interprofessional education for front-line healthcare personnel.	Viewing a simulation scenario live will allow the guests to see how teaching with simulation provides experiential learning for the participants and observing the debriefing session will allow them to observe the self-reflection and self discovery that occurs by the participants. The ultimate goal for this methodology is to provide safe healthcare practitioners.
The role of Quality & Improvement Sciences to drive Clinical Transformation
	The guests will learn how the NSLIJ health system has utilized several different Improvement Sciences/Quality methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, PDSA) to drive key system clinical initiatives.	Sepsis is one of the leading causes of mortality. Early recognition & compliance with evidence based protocols reduce mortality. New York State recently passed legislation requiring all hospitals to implement sepsis protocols.
Technology & its Impact on Infection Prevention
	The guests will learn how technology can be integrated into health care to change hand hygiene behavior.	It is important to have timely feedback of information to change hand hygiene behaviors and decrease the risk for development of an infection.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Public Transportation will be by Long Island Railroad (LIRR) train and public bus operated by the Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE). An ASQ representative will be on hand to guide the group to the train and bus. Train travel time is 33 minutes; bus travel time is 8 minutes. Expected arrival time at LIJ Center for Learning & Innovation is 9:45 AM.

The group will meet at Penn Station-New York at the LIRR customer waiting area at 8:30 AM on Saturday, 11/2/13, board the front car of the 8:50 AM LIRR train to New Hyde Park, disembark the train at New Hyde Park station upon arrival at 9:23 AM, walk to the nearby N25 bus stop and catch the 9:30 AM NICE bus to the LIJ Center for Learning & Innovation at 1979 Marcus Avenue/Union Turnpike in Lake Success, NY.

At end of the tour, the group will again board the N25 NICE bus, return to the LIRR New Hyde Park train station and travel back to Penn Station in New York.

Reservations: LIRR Group Travel reservations must be made by October 18th for the tour make your reservations by that time if possible and indicate that you will be participating in the Group Public Transportation. A group size of 25 minimum is required to qualify for LIRR Group Travel rates. Regular train fares will apply for groups of less than 25 and individuals.

LIRR Group Rate: $7.50 Round trip Adult/Senior; $5.00 Round trip Youth (under 18)

LIRR Non-Group Pre-boarding Rate: $16.00 Round trip Adult; $11.00 Round trip Senior

NICE Bus: $2.25 Adult Cash each way; $2.50 Adult Metro-card each way; $1.10 Senior each way, cash or Metro-card. Cash payments must be all coins, no bills accepted
